With the holidays quickly approaching and our days getting busier, it gets harder to find the time to do activities with the family. Here is an easy and inexpensive activity that will be fun for everyone. You can make your own placemats. This is a great activity because there are so many variations.
I made this placemat with my kids’ hand prints.
My daughter made this one last year for Thanksgiving.
To make a placemat you will need:
clear contact paper
construction paper
craft supplies such as glue, scissors, paint and paint brushesThe supplies will depend on what design you are doing.

For my 3 year old, I drew a picture of a butterfly.
I let her paint it.
After it dried, I cut out the butterfly and glued it on to a larger piece of construction paper (18 x 12 in).
Then we covered the design with contact paper.
My 3 year old also made a placemat with shapes.
My son designed his own monster truck.
I hope this gives you some ideas to create your own fun placemats.
