After I have made my list of items I need for the season I am ready to take inventory.
Sort clothes into baskets
First thing I do is go through all the items in their rooms and sort the items into baskets. I have a basket for items that no longer fit but are to be saved, items I will donate, items that still fit and items to sell. This takes a long time because it requires my kids to try on everything. My youngest loved this part because she got to change her clothes a million times. I took 2 days to do this because it is a big project!
Get out your list
Now that I know what I have that fits, I refer back to my list of items I need for the upcoming season. I simply check off the items that we have.
Borrow before you buy
Finally, I call my sister to see if she has any of the items on my list. We are very lucky because we have all girls and we can pass clothes around since I have kids in sizes 5 and 3 and she has kids in sizes 4 and 2. Now, I check off all the items I can borrow and then I have my final shopping list all ready to go!
Join me on Thursday as I share tips for shopping at a Consignment Sale.
