For those of you who have taken our workshop and are hesistant to plan a shopping trip that involves multiple stores, I wanted to share this evening’s trip to encourage you to go ahead an try it a few times!
First, I was without children/husband so that always makes the trip faster/cheaper!
I went to Hen House (the nearest of which is 15 miles away), Hy-Vee (just down the street from HH, then back near home to CVS and Price Chopper). In all I was gone for exactly 2 hours (this included a stop for gas, too!).
Not bad IMO 🙂
Here’s what I got (photo to come tomorrow):
8lbs fuji apples
4.75 lbs of red anjou pears
3.5 lbs bananas
3 yellow onions
2.6 lbs acorn squash
6.6 lbs butternut squash
2 1lb bags Dole Romaine Mix
2 boxes Kashi TLC crackers
6 boxes Quaker Simple Harvest Oatmeal
4 6-packs YoBaby yogurt
2 packages of Kraft LiveActive cheese cubes
4 gallons skim milk
2 Folger’s Mocha Cappucino (FULL PRICE!)
8 bags Stacy’s Pita chips
2 20-roll packs Cottonelle toilet tissue
2 CVS brand sandwhich bags
Total OOP = $77.79 and I get $5 back in MIR (on the cheese)
Actual cost of items = $180.11
Savings of 59%
If it weren’t for our coffee addiction we’d have saved over 60%!
