Both Chrissy and I have begun making our own bread each week (or every few days as the case may be!). We use both bread machines and conventional methods and have found that the time and cost involved is frugal for our families.
We prefer the whole grain recipes (and thankfully our kids are accustomed to them) but have also ventured into the white buttery cinnamon-raisin spectrum.
You don’t have to buy a bread-machine to do this and you don’t have to be a master baker. Just some patience while you learn how your bread maker works or how to properly knead and shape dough and the proper temperature for the yeast.
Here are a few of the recipes we regularly use:
Whole Wheat Bread with Flaxseed Meal
White Raisin Cinnamon Bread (yummy and enough to share with your friends)
