We like to ask you to do one thing to help the environment on Earth Day, April 22nd!
And, we have a suggestion: Get a stash of reuseable shopping bags for your weekly shopping! Or enter our contest to win a pack of them!
These “pretty little pink bags” do double-duty on the giving side! They will help the Earth AND the fight against breast cancer. They are smaller than your reuseable grocery bag – great for a quick trip to Walgreens or CVS or maybe a fun day shoppping at the mall! You’ll get 5 of these if you win!
Chrissy and I each have about 7-10 reuseable bags that we take with us each time we shop. Some stores even give us credit for each bag we bring!
There are many ways to go about getting the larger grocery variety bags. The simplest/most frugal ways: you can buy them at your local grocery store for a $1 (this is your best bet if you don’t mind the store logo), you can order some online from several websites for a wide range of prices. I recommend this site as they seem to have the most reasonable pricing and the bags are not store specific.
Or you can get them for free!
Wal-Mart and Macy’s will be giving some away during Earth Week (see details below).
Walmart – Free Wildflower Seeds & Reusable Bag Giveaway- April 19th- 8AM
They will be giving away a million reusable grocery bags for free. They will also be teaming up with Nickeloden to give away free Wildflower seeds to kids. You can find out more about the event here.
Macy’s – Turning Over a New Leaf – April 22nd
On April 22, Earth Day, Macy’s will offer special giveaways and promotions, including a free sapling to the first 100 people in each store. Macy’s will also distribute reusable tote bags to the first 150 people who visit its stores on April 26
