My name is Marianne Thomas and I publish two blogs, Writer-Mommy and The New Frugal Mom. I bought my first domain name, http://www.writer-mommy.com/ in 2004 with the idea of launching my own website or blog. But after moving (again!) and finally getting settled in 2005, I found out I was pregnant with our third child just as my husband and I decided that a career change for him was necessary for us to stay put and not have to move yet again.
All thoughts of building a website or blogging evaporated over the next two years. Taking care of Life came first.
Then my friend Em and her cousin Jenny started a blog last summer. I read it, and read some of the blogs they linked, and was amazed at how much mommy blogging has evolved over the last few years. Moms were actually blogging to help other moms in big ways and small ways, not just to rant about life at home with weefolk. I was hooked. I started publishing Writer-Mommy in October 2007.
One day late fall, I read a post at Em and Jenny’s blog about how much money they were saving thanks to MoneySavingMom. Not just a few dollars, but buckets and buckets of cash.
So of course I clicked over, read up on CVS, and refreshed my frugal memory about Walgreens.
And I started finding deals of my own, like this one:
I bought all this fine loot yesterday at Walgreens (left side) and CVS (right side) for only $1.78. But wait! I earned $7.00 in ECBs and will earn $13.50 in rebates from Walgreens. I just got paid a net of $18.72 to shop for things my family needs!
Deals like the one above are part of the reason why I launched The New Frugal Mom; the biggest reason why is that I want to be part of the great network of frugal bloggers who share information to help other people save money, live on less, and ultimately be more satisfied with life.
