*A discount grocery store will sometimes sell things that have just expired or will soon expire, damaged items, and item that store have an overstock of. It is important to be a “centsable” shopper when going to a discount store so you are not wasting your money! Here are a few tips:
*Always check the expiration date-some items are fine to use close to the expiration date while other I would stay away from. Click here to read an article about expiration dates.
*Check the packaging-I didn’t buy anything that was damaged in anyway! Watch out for cans that have cracks at the seams, bulge, or spurt liquid when opened.
*Be careful about stocking-up with items that have a close expiration date. I purchase a ton of cereal but my family loves cereal so this will not last long in my house.
*See if the discount store will take coupons! This store will take coupons but I didn’t have any coupons for the items I got. The store did have $5 off $25 coupon that I used!
