I would never have guessed that one day (today) I would be so distracted by my own kids and family that I wouldn’t even know what was playing at the theaters and since I’m a complete nerd I only listen to public radio; I don’t really get into video games (which my sister says is our generation gap!). I do watch a few TV shows but I Tivo them (like you can watch TV with two toddlers running around) so even TV is a bit vague to me.
Now, imagine if I had a teenager or pre-teen (or even a ‘tween’), how on earth would I know what influences they were getting in the media (when they are away from home with their friends)??
Well, I happen to have armed myself a bit early with some great web resources that I’m sure will only continue to grow in popularity and scope. These sites provide a place for parents to review movies, music, TV shows, etc for other parents to read. One of them even offers the kids a chance to review it, too!
I just thought I pass them along in case you are (or will soon find yourself) in that “Mom you are so out of it” phase of life! Eeeek, I’m not even 31 yet and I can already see it coming!
These sites are all free. I did come across one that you have to pay to join…I didn’t even look at it to be honest! I am skeptical of anything like that being a for fee service. I’d rather share the info in a forum setting with other parents.
Common Sense Media – this one is my favorite!
http://www.commonsensemedia.org/reviews/

Kids In Mind – movie reviews only
