I was reminded this week about some of the strongest memories I have from my own childhood are simple things we did together as a family!
My husband has recently got into geocaching! It’s a FREE way to have a lot of fun with his new Father’s Day toy (a GPS) – which will serve us well in AZ.
Geocaching a worldwide scavenger hunt! Read about it here… if you are good with coordinates, you don’t have to have a GPS (but you’d really have to be good with coordinates)!
We took both kids , Caitlin is not old enough to know what we’re doing but Evan does and had a ball. We even had him get the first cache for us – hidden at the base of a large evergreen tree! Our second one was a little harder to find so Dad had to dig it out but we all still had fun searching for it!
On our way home from our second find we stopped at Sonic for $.99 shakes!
It was such a ball and I realized that we were starting a new family tradition and creating memories our kids will cherish later in life.
Simple stuff like this goes a long way toward creating family unity that will help us through rough times (and the teenage years)!
