You’ll surely noticed the changes to the GG this week…
We realize it’s a significant one and wanted to give you some reasoning behind the change as well as a chance to express your thoughts.
Here’s the rationale:
- We found that as the gathering grew (especially on Thursdays) we were having a difficult time getting all of the links updated in a timely manner. Some stores run ads on different days (earlier or later) and we weren’t always being notified when the deals were up on each blog. There were about 25 different blogs for us to check and we often realized later in the week that we had missed one or forgotten to go back and check it.
- We also wanted to be able to offer our readers a bigger selection of blogs to choose from. There are some stores for which we have several possible sources, we didn’t think it was completely accurate for us to hand-pick just one since we do not see the ads to know what is on sale, what is a good deal (there are regional pricing differences) and what special ads come out each week.
- Lastly, we wanted to encourage more participation!! We were concerned that potential contributors might be discouraged from linking up, or their Mr Linky contribution may be overlooked if there were already posts for their store in the “feature-blog” list.
So, now that you know WHY we did it, we’d like to get your feedback…we ask that you try it out for a week and let us know your thoughts.
