A Good Reminder
Rose, one of our readers wrote in with this information.
It is a great idea to donate to your local food banks, BUT………Please Please tell everyone to check the cans to be cure that they are NOT RUSTING or SWELLING in any way. On the rim, on the side, please no signs of rust, or swelling. I’ve had to throw out a lot of food from going to my local pantry every week. When I mentioned it to them and they said they cannot afford the dumpster to throw it out! I am grateful for the food but I do not want my family getting sick (we have no insurance). Some dated foods are still good up to 6 months after the sell-by date but if it has been years, please just throw it out!
