Since it’s a holiday week, we’re taking an unofficial break from our regular features.
We thought it might be nice to have one of the bloggers behind Tuesday’s ‘Green Space’ feature here at BeCentsAble more formally introduce herself.
You’ve read several of Katherine’s posts already, and as she gets more involved with BeCentsAble in the future, you will get to know her even better.

I joined the BeCentsAble team at the end of September as a contributor to the Green Space feature. My goal in writing that post is to help people take steps to making more eco-friendly choices while not busting their budgets. At the end of October, I took over managing the Grocery Gathering. We’re working hard to make our most popular feature user friendly, useful and up-to-date.
I’ve always been frugal and eco-concsious. As a kid, I spent many recesses out at the recycling center sorting my community’s recycling, and I petitioned the school board to replace our styrofoam lunch trays with a more environmentally-friendly option. Since becoming a stay at home mom, I’ve been seeking ways to apply eco-friendly options to our home. I’m also a frugal person by nature–my husband and I have always lived by the principle of spending less than we earn. We are constantly looking for ways to reduce our spending even more, not because we need to but because we can. When we spend less, we can give more. As a Christian, I feel called to be a good steward of both the earth and of the money the Lord provides. Several months ago, my search for ways to cut our grocery bill led me to this blog and my shopping hasn’t been the same since! I am especially interested in making changes that are both eco- and budget-friendly. Fortunately, those two interests often work together.
On a more personal note, I am married to my high school sweetheart and the mother of a cute little girl. My husband and I have been married for almost 6 years. I left a career in special education to stay home with our 18-month-old daughter full time. Taking care of her is the best job I’ve ever had. We’re very blessed.
