As you might know, Walmart offers price matching for most items advertised in a competitor’s weekly circulars. There are a few exceptions to their price matching guarantee. The item must have an actual price advertised and not just a percent off or a buy one, get one (BOGO) sale price. I’ve used price matching successfully a few times, especially during a busy week when I have to make a Walmart trip and I don’t have time to run to any other stores. It is helpful if you take the fliers with you, but since we only get the weekend paper, I never have the store fliers and the cashier always has them handy. Per Chrissy’s suggestion, I also separate all my price match items and run them through at the end of the transaction. However, I have to admit, I am not a frequent Walmart shopper, and I have only used price matching a handful of times. So, when Darla sent in this question, I didn’t know how to help her. If you have any advice you could offer Darla or if you’ve experienced the same problem, please leave a comment encouraging her. Thank you!
Here’s what Darla had to say:
Hi, I have been noticing something at my Walmart and I was wondering if it is going on all over. I am extremely upset with my Walmart over this. I live in a small town with only a Walmart and a Price Chopper, but I get all the store fliers and use Walmart’s price matching to get the best deal. Well, over the last few months I have noticed this is getting harder to do because Walmart is changing all the sizes of several products so that the sizes are not the same as other stores. For example, I wanted to match hunts ketchup at $0.68 for 24 oz bottle. I’ve never been a problem before, but all of a sudden the only sizes Walmart carries are 20 oz and 32 oz. I had the same problem on cereals, sugar, chips and peanut butter. I asked the cashier about the changing sizes of items, and she nodded her head to say yes, she was noticing it. What is up with this? Has anyone else had noticed this? Thanks. Darla
