It’s the fourth and final week of the All You Grocery Challenge. I’m looking forward to hearing about the winner. With over 7, 000 entrants, the judges are going to have their hands full narrowing it down to just one savvy shopper!
Last week taught me a lot about flexibility in menu planning. Rarely does a week go by when we actually eat everything on the menu. That was definitely the case last week. We had leftovers of two meals I wasn’t counting on having, and we didn’t end up eating lunch at Honeybaked Ham with a friend as planned so we’ll use that coupon this week. Last weekend was also moving weekend so we had an extra dozen mouths to feed for lunch on Saturday. We’re so grateful for all the help we received from friends and family. Providing a pizza lunch was the least we could do!
I have photos of last week’s shopping trips somewhere, but I don’t currently know where the camera is so there are none to share. Last week’s total came to $75.38 which is definitely over our typical weekly budget and also $0.38 over All You’s Grocery Challenge budget for our family, but considering we fed so many more people than usual and we have a few groceries left over from the week, I don’t think we did too badly.
This week the menu isn’t too exciting since we’re moving in, getting settled and I’m still learning my way around the new kitchen. It’s also hot in Kansas City this week and the air conditioning unit in our new house is broken so we’re really hot which means that we’re not as hungry as usual. However, we’re working hard around the house and usually we’re ready for a large snack after Anna goes to bed so the free Oscar Mayer natural hot dogs I picked up last week are going on the snack list. Hopefully we’ll have the air conditioner fixed tomorrow.
