Sales Cycles
Most local grocery stores cycle their sales every twelve to twenty four weeks. By watching the sale ads, you will find which items cycle sooner than others. You can find barbecue items on sale from April to July but the deepest discounts in most areas will be just before and after Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day. Just before Thanksgiving and Christmas you can find bargains on baking goods and March is National Frozen Foods month. Click here to see a sales cycle chart.
Now that you understand why pricing matching is such a great deal, you need to know how it actually works. We always have ads with us just in case they need them; however, the cashiers should have the ads. Most stores will price match any store within a specific radius. This policy varies by store location so check with your manager. Most stores will not price match a percentage off sale or buy one get one free offer. You need to match the exact item by brand and size. If it is a store brand, Walmart will match with their store brand. This easy strategy will save you time and money.
