Each night while cleaning the kitchen after dinner I also prepare the next nights meal in the crock pot. I make soup, casseroles, roasts, chicken, ribs, etc. The possibilities are endless! Mix all ingredients in crock pot, refrigerate until next day and then put on low to cook for 8 to 10 hours. Come home, set table, prepare a quick side dish if needed and dinner is served. Also nice for those nights when it is impossible for the family to eat together.
I also put meals together in gallon zip lock freezer bags so I just have to dump in crock pot in the morning, set temp and away we go for the day. Those store bought crock pot meals are just too expensive and full of sodium!
One of my favorites Crock Pot Recipe:
- Add your favorite chicken pieces, or a whole chicken
- 1 Bag of frozen mixed vegetables
- 1 Bag of frozen potatoes
- Spices of your choice (thyme, sage, rosemary, marjoram, peppercorns, garlic glove, chopped onion)
Add to crock pot frozen along with one can of chicken stock, broth or water and bouillon. Cook on low for 10 hours, remove chicken and vegetables and thicken juices with cornstarch and serve!

Paula, that recipe sounds so good. I saw this link over on the CP Facebook page. I’ll be honest, I use my stove and oven way more than my slow cooker, but I’m trying to love the Crockpot!! Couple questions, what kind of frozen potatoes do you use here? And does the chicken shred up and fall apart or stay whole after 10 hours? I end up with shredded chicken most times which, even though it’s tasty, isn’t very appetizing to me.
