Here are a few things to keep in mind when preparing for your next grocery trip.
Coupons are the manufacturers way to entice you to buy their product. If you already use that product then you WIN! Wait for a sale on that item and then stock up! Learn more about using coupons with sale items HERE.
Consider buying the store brand when you are trying a new product. Most of the time the store brand is cheaper than the name brand products. Most store brands have a money back guarantee so you can’t lose!
Contact the manufacturer if you would like to try their product. Manufacturers will often send out coupons for a free item or even send a sample if it is a new product.
Pay attention to the top and bottom shelves. You can find great deals here. Manufacturers pay extra for prime placement on center shelves and end caps; those costs are passed along to you.
Stop being brand loyal. Consider purchasing the item that is on sale, that you have a coupon for, or as I mentioned above, the store brand.
Take advantage of all of the discount programs your store has to offer – rewards cards, double coupon days, stacking coupons, accepting competitors coupons, senior citizens discount days, etc. Know their coupon policy and keep a copy of it with you when shopping in case there are any questions.
Remember – “Couponing” is an art and practice makes perfect! You won’t always save 99 percent on your grocery bill but every little bit counts!
Happy Shopping!
