To get ready for back to school, the kids and I made some homemade oatmeal packets. I loved this project because we can now have easy, ready to use oatmeal packets that are homemade. I have included a recipe that my family loves, but I suggest that you modify the recipe to include what your family loves. You can add brown sugar, nuts, flax seed etc.
This was a messy, but fun project! I set up an assembly line and had the kids each add different items and pick out the type of dried fruit they wanted. My kids are always more likely to eat something that they helped to make. The recipe made a good amount for mom and dad, but was too much for my kids. Next time, I think I will cut the recipe in half for their packets.

- 1 tsp. Flax Seed

Can you use milk instead of water? Ever tried dried apples? Wondering how they would taste versus adding fresh upon eating.

Yes, you can use milk instead of water. We added dried apples to some of our packets and the kids love it!
