The Local Library? Yes! It can help you make money or save big MONEY!
As I mentioned last month, my family enjoys our movies and entertainment, but it can get quite expensive. Our monthly video mailer is increasing their prices starting September 1, 2011.
We have decided to discontinue our video mailer completely. September brings more television to watch plus our family will be busy with school, and outside activities.
BUT, what about watching the current movies? Well, I have discovered that our local library offers a lot of current and up-to-date movies for FREE! And not just for our children.
Some examples of the adult movies:
- The Town
- Alice in Wonderland
- Morning Glory
- The Romantics
- Hereafter
- The Hangover
- Dinner for Schmucks
- Easy A.
I look up the current titles and then search the library database for the movie. Many times the movie is on order but you can still put it on HOLD and receive it at the closest library to you! Plus, you get to keep them for 7, 14 and even 28 days instead of 1!

Yes!! This is true. I have saved a lot of money borrowing from the library with the latest and newest videos. Fortunately we have a very excellent library in our city and it is only about 10 minutes from our home. One can easily check out or reserve the latest videos you are interested in and if it is a “hot Pick” (newly released) you can borrow it for three days for free, of course. Our library also recently added blu-ray discs to their catalog. I don’t even go to the theaters anymore. I’m at home enjoying these videos popping my own air-popped popcorn all for free. I recently watched “Thor,” ” the Conspirator,” ” The diary of the Wimpy Kid,2″ and “Rio.” Another library I found also let you borrow up to 3 weeks and lets u renew materials again as long as nobody else request it. More people should check out their local library and support it. The library is the best!
