With a little one in the house I find myself organizing and making room in his closet for new sizes about every two months. I am lucky to receive lots of great hand-me-downs from my nephews so things are constantly shifting in our little guys closet.
When our little guy was about 4 months old I realized that even though his clothes were in order by size he was out growing many of them before he wore them because I couldn’t quickly see where one size began and ended in the sea of clothes. Enter my easy, cute and reuseable size dividers!
I know you can purchase the dividers like you see in department stores but why spend your cash on something you can make with things you already have.
Using a large soup can – about 3 inches in diameter- I traced two circles that overlapped on a shirt box so that when I cut them out they formed a pill shape. I used a shirt box that was in my Christmas wrapping kit because it is sturdy but still easy to cut. I was able to make 5 dividers with just the box lid.
If you want yours to be cute and not just plain cardboard, take construction paper or scrapbook paper and trace your cardboard cut outs onto the paper. Cut out the paper and using a glue stick, place the paper onto the pill shape cut out.
Allow the glue to set and then cut the right size opening for the rod in your closet.
Lastly, take number/letter stickers and label the size on your hanger. The great thing about this is that when that size is packed away you can just replace the stickers for the newest size in the closet.
