It’s that time of year again…back to school and back to packing lunches! This year I am determined to be more organized and prepared, so I decided to make a lunch zone in my kitchen to help make packing lunches a breeze. This zone is for all my lunch supplies and special lunch food/snacks and is OFF limits to the kids that way my supply doesn’t disappear when the kids are hungry.
My lunch Zone:
- Lunch Boxes
- Water Bottles
- Reusable Containers
- Stockpile of Lunch Food and Snacks
I keep a small stockpile of some of our favorite lunch items, so I can grab and pack. You can really cut your budget by having a small stockpile of items that your kids eat often for lunch. For example, I send a drink box every Friday as a special treat for my kids so I stocked up on Capri Sun when they were 50% off. You will really save big if you can get just half of your lunch items at rock bottom prices.
I am also including special snacks that we must provide for school, soccer practice and girl scouts in this zone. I love the idea of having a stockpile of snacks ready when we are assigned to bring a snack to school or an event. I hate it when I have to make a last minute trip to the store because I forgot it was our week for snack and I hate having to pay full price for it!
