The Target Red Card offers tons of great benefits but is it really worth it?? Let’s first look at the benefits.
Benefits of Target Red Card:
- 5% off every day
- No annual fee
- Free shipping at Target.com
- Extended returns — 30 extra days
- Up to 1% of purchases go to school you designate
- Enjoy exclusive offers available only to REDcard holders
- Most online application get immediate approval
Saving 5% on all your Target purchases can add up to be a ton of money, but if you don’t use it right it can cost you more money in interest. I only suggest you get a Target Red Card if you are going to turn around and pay off your card right away and you have the money in the bank to pay for it. Most people get in trouble by saying they will pay this off when they get paid next month and then they have an unexpected bill come up and they can’t make the payment. They now have to pay interest and they are not saving money like they had planned.
One way to get the benefits of a Target Red Card is to get the Target debit card. This card works like a check by drawing from your existing checking account and has a secured PIN access. You can also get a cash withdrawal up to $40 at checkout.
Do you have a Target Red Card? If so, does it save you money??

I recently got the Target debit card and I kick myself a bit for not doing it sooner. I get a couple of prescriptions filled at their pharmacy each month, which often results in a 5% off shopping trip coupon. Taht discount combines with the 5% off for the debit card. If I’m in a planning mood, I can also double up manufacturer coupons with Target coupons AND I’ve registered the Red Card to give 1% to my kiddo’s school. So, while Target doesn’t always carry everything I shop for, when I keep an eye on the sale ads and other discounts, I feel like I can get real bargains.
