Last year I read a great book called Organic Housekeeping that suggested using kitchen towels instead of paper towels. Using kitchen towels is not only much cheaper but it is better for the environment and softer to use on the little ones! When the little ones are done eating I use a clean towel to wipe off their hands and faces. I use one end for each kid. I then wipe off the highchairs and table. Next, I wash out the towel with soapy water and use it to clean the dishes. Finally I use the same towel to clean any spills on the floor. The idea is to go from cleanest area to the dirtest. After I wipe up the floor I wash out the towel and hang it in my laudry room. One important tip to remember if you don’t lay them out to dry they will start to smell. I buy my small kitchen towels at Walmart for under $3 a pack. When my towels don’t look so hot anymore I use them as cleaning rags. This is an easy way to save money and the environment!
