It’s the middle of June already, and summer is in full swing. If you’re looking for some free or inexpensive activities to keep the kids busy, here’s a list of posts you may want to check out:
1. Free Admission to National Parks
One hundred different national parks are offering free admission during three different weekends this summer: June 20-21, 2009 (Father’s Day weekend), July 18-19, 2009, and August 15-16, 2009.
2. Cinemark Summer Movie Clubhouse
Purchase tickets to any of the ten available movies for $1.00 each. Purchase an advance pass to all ten movies for only $5.00. A different movie will be playing each week.
3. Harkin Summer Movie Fun
Purchase tickets to each of seven kid-friendly movies playing at Harkin’s Theaters this summer for only $2.00.
4. AMC Summer Movie Camp
Admission to each of each of eight family movies is only $1.00.
5. Half Price Book’s Feed Your Brain Summer Reading Program
Any child twelve years old or younger is eligible to participate in this program. Kids can earn a $3.00 gift card each week they read (or are read to) for at least 15 minutes a day for five out of seven days a week.
6. Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program
Children in grades 1 through 6 can earn a free book at Barnes and Noble when they read eight books this summer and turn in their completed Reading Journal. Thanks, Stephanie!
7. Summer Library Story Time
Our local library hosts a story time for preschool age kids in the park. Check with your local library to see if there is a similar program in your area.
