Here are some tips we posted up last year on how to have a fun and frugal Halloween.
Even though I love celebrating Halloween, I do not have a huge budget to spend on it. Here are some inexpensive and fun ways my family celebrates Halloween.
Costumes:
Costumes can be a huge expense, here are some ways we save on them:
1. Buy costumes at garage sale, consignment shops and places like Goodwill (some Goodwill’s even sell brand new costumes)
2. Trade costumes with family, friends and neighbors.
3. Buy costumes at after Halloween sales the year before. You can get costumes as cheap as 95% off.
*Tip* Buy costumes at after Halloween sales and save them to give as dress up clothes for Christmas. Kids love to dress up all year around.
Games:
My kids love this game. All you need is ping pong balls (which I decorated with markers) and a plastic pumpkin.
Try to bounce the balls into the pumpkin.
This game cost under $3.
The Mummy Wrap: Which team can wrap their mummy fastest with toilet paper We play this every year.
Halloween Bowling: I decorated 2 liter bottles and we try to knock them down with a small ball.
(You can weigh the bottles down with some sand to make it a little more challenging)
Halloween Snacks:
Halloween Toast: To make this cute treat you will need bread, milk, food coloring and a new paint brush.
Add a few drops of food coloring to some milk. Paint the toast with that mixture and then toast the bread.
Spider snacks: These are easy and fun. They are made with crackers, peanut butter, chow mein noodles and raisins.
Decorations:
I love this wreath, it is made from my kid’s ghost foot prints and palm print Jack-O-Laterans. These prints are glued on a paper plate with the center cut out.
This lamp shade is very simple to make. Cut bat shapes from black constructon paper. Tape the bats to the inside of a lampshade.
