Should you stay at a Disney World Value Resort? Here are a few things to consider before booking a Disney World value resort.
If you stay at a Disney Value Resort you will save money because you get free airport transportation to your resort and back, shuttles to all Disney parks and attractions and free parking (if have your own car or a rental). Don’t forget, you get lots of perks like extra magic hours and dinning plan options. However, if you stay off-site you can find lower rates (we found a hotel for just $27 a night), more room and you have access to grocery stores, restaurants and shops that don’t charge Disney prices.
If you are flying and on a tight budget we recommend the Disney Value Resort, standard rooms, because you can get your transportation included and you get the conveniences of staying on-site. If you are on a tight budget and driving we recommend staying off-site because you already have transportation and you can find lower rates than the Value Resorts offer.
We strongly recommend not renting a studio at a Disney World Value Resort because you could rent a deluxe Disney Timeshare for less or save a ton by renting a condo off-site. We have rented a Disney timeshare at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for just $167 (regular price $355 a night) and at the BoardWalk for just $150 a night (regular price $597 a night)!
If you are trying to save money but need space you should rent a condo off-site. We rented a 3 bedroom condo, during peak Holiday season, for just $50 a night. We rented directly from the owner to save money!
Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Price: $90-$185 *$10 charge for the 3rd and 4th person (over 17)
Sleeps: 4
This large resort has 2,880 rooms, a food court and 3 pools. The theme is done well, but it hard for the young kids to get. Our kids enjoyed the theme at Art of Animation and the All-Star Resort much better. The Pop Century has three pools that are large, but not as kid friendly as the new pools at Art of Animation.
Disney’s All-Star (Sports, Music and Movies)
Price:
- $90-$185 Standard Room *$10 charge for 3 and 4 person (over 17)
- $200-$375 Suite (only at All-Star Music)
Sleeps: standard rooms sleep 4 and suites sleep 6
The theme at these three different resorts (Sports, Music and Movies) are very kid friendly. What little boy wouldn’t love to have a football field in their front yard? The downside about these resorts is that they share shuttles with the other All-Star Resorts. The All-Star Sports is your best bet if you are worried about transportation because they are the first stop, so you are likely to get a seat.
Art of Animation
Price:
- $100-$199 Standard Room *$10 charge for 3 and 4 person (over 17)
- $250-$433 Suite
Sleeps: standard rooms sleep 4 and suites sleep 6
This resort is the newest and has almost 2,000 rooms, a food court and 3 pools. Suites have a mini-kitchen and the standard room come with a small refrigerator. Some find the theme a bit over-the-top (especially after you have just spent the day at the theme parks) but our kids loved it. The resort themes include Cars, Little Mermaid, The Lion King and Finding Nemo. If your child is into one or more of these themes, they will be over the moon with this resort. The Finding Nemo pool area is very kid friendly with a splash area and playground (the kids may never want to leave).
