…keep in your bag for summer time day trips?
We have an entirely different routine in the summer when we leave the house. No coats, hats, gloves, blankets and such…just fun in the sun type stuff (mostly)!
My favorite handy item…I have two “dry bags” I keep with us each time we leave the house.
When we go to the pool or on a day trip, one has dry clothes and diapers, the other has sunscreen, bug block. When it’s time to leave the pool, I change everyone into their dry clothes and we head to the car ready for a nap!! And if there’s an accident – no worries.
We ALWAYS have water and snacks (for everyone) in a small, manageable soft-side cooler. My kids and husband are very sensitive to blood sugar fluctuations and with the GF diet the kids are on it’s practically impossible to find a “fast snack” if we have to buy it.
We also keep a first aid kit in the car (which includes AfterBite and SkinShield) and some extra towels (to lay over the car seats when we leave the car), a spare hat and pair of play shoes for each child and the umbrella stroller.
WOW, that seems like a lot of stuff! But if motherhood has taught me anything it’s that you can NEVER be too prepared (and you can always find a way to make do – only if all else fails!). Wait, isn’t that the Girl Scout motto as well? Maybe they know something we don’t!
My SIL also recommends keeping baby powder handy for days at the beach or playground sand box. It will help get the sand off easily, and vinegar will stop jelly fish stings!
